The JDI Team

Over 40 years ago, Al Mowdy began hanging drywall for home builders out of the back of his flatbed pickup in Austin, Texas. With the help of his wife, Jean Mowdy, JDI Contractor and Supply, Inc was formed in 1993. Al started following multifamily contractors across the country developing long lasting relationships as the guy who gets it done. His “Just Did It” approach to work, and dedication to providing clients with the highest quality in the industry, has been the cornerstone of JDI.

In the early 2000s, Josh Mowdy, Al and Jean’s son, started working alongside his father, learning the skills necessary to execute at a high level. As their experience grew, so did the pipeline of work as they focused on relationships and building a labor force that has amassed to several hundred men in the Denver market alone.

From Garden style walk-ups to high-rises, Al, Jean, and Josh have been integrally involved in all types of multifamily construction. They believe in providing the horsepower required to push the jobs and building what the project requires, not just what the plans say. This level of execution is the reason a majority of JDI’s work is with repeat builders and referrals; never taking for granted the opportunities provided.

In 2014, Al, Jean, and Josh joined forces with Adam Wood to grow the mid-rise and high-rise division of JDI. Adam’s experience on the GC side brought immense value in delivering this type of product. His overall knowledge of mid to high-rise construction and CFMF elevates JDI’s ability to construct complex metal framing systems. From layout to closeout, Adam is actively involved with the construction teams ensuring JDI is a partner in the success of the projects.

As the company continued to grow, Al was looking towards retirement. In 2021, Josh was named President of JDI. Al still checks in on the office while Jean maintains an active role. Josh continues to be involved in every stage of the projects and actively communicates with JDI field teams.

Our bidding and pre-construction process is designed to set projects up for success, including comprehensive buyouts, scope gap identification, and engineering solutions that maximize efficiency and cost savings.
Through our design-assist expertise, we ensure compliance with building codes while utilizing BIM modeling to optimize project planning. As part of this process, we also handle material submittals early to prevent potential manufacturer shortages and confirm all UL requirements are met, ensuring seamless execution and compliance.
During construction, our project managers are engaged early, driving coordination and scheduling to keep everything on track. We leverage state-of-the-art total station technology for precise layout, reducing errors and increasing efficiency. Our skilled workforce and streamlined processes allow us to scale manpower as needed, pushing schedules forward to help projects finish ahead of time.
Quality is at the core of our delivery. Our multi-point OAOC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) program ensures framing accuracy and drywall finishes that meet the highest ownership standards.
